nimbit enables mp3 sales from artist websites

nimbit – the management system for music professionals – empowers musicians by letting them sell mp3s from their personal website. Indie musicians can place their own digital downloads for sale and make significantly more money than by selling through another company. Each mp3 is completely compatible with all major digital music players.

Digital distribution commonly requires a “middle-man” to go between the artist and the sales site. Ultimately, the selling site (iTunes, eMusic, etc.) takes a portion of the sale. Then the “middle-man” takes their piece, and often another organization may demand a percentage as well. From a nimbit account, artists place their digital goods for sale on their own website alongside CDs, t-shirts, and any other item. Fans can buy securely using any major credit card. Without a middle-man, artists retain a minimum of 80% of the purchase price on digital downloads. While the artist may have received only 30 cents before, through nimbit they would receive 80 cents. This 260% difference allows artists to make more money while gaining wider exposure and control of their career.
