Back in the old days, you had to rely on real people to discover new music. Some of those people were on the radio, some wrote for newspapers and magazine, and others were the people you meet when you’re walkin’ down the street.
Then :: boom :: the Internet. All of a sudden there’s a million different ways to discover that cool new acoustic-trance-hop-shoegaze band from Myanmar that’s made up of two guys from a later incarnation of Journey and the members of Salt ‘n’ Pepa.
Blissfully, the old music discovery methods still work just fine. The other day, J.P. Twarog (Nimbit’s Chief Architect) was walking past the marketing department. There, spinning on a vintage turntable, was an appropriately aged copy of “I Am the Blues” by Willie Dixon. The blues, ironically, made J.P. quite happy. So much so that he went and purchased a cd of that same album for his own personal listening.
Ahh, music discovery ….go find some new tunes today!
P.S. Willie Dixon was an amazing songwriter. How many of these songs has your band covered? ”Little Red Rooster”, “Hoochie Coochie Man”, “Spoonful”, “Back Door Man”, “I Just Want to Make Love to You”, “I Ain’t Superstitious”, “Diddy Wah Diddy,” and “Bring It On Home”. Along with hundreds of others…
